Russell Harris
Russell Harris has had an eclectic career which encompasses TV and Radio presenting as well as property developing and is easily recognised as one of the co presenters of the hugely successful C5 series ‘I own Britain’s Best Home’ as well as being part of the man and wife team responsible for converting Lymm Water Tower into an award winning home and a documentary series. The tower is still featured regularly in the national press.
Russell could put Action Man to shame when it comes to daring do in the cause of entertaining television. He's presented from high up in the Himalayas, tackled almost every kind of outdoor pursuit, found time to squeeze in a panto or two and even made an appearance in Coronation Street.
A qualified Technology Engineer Russell can turn his hand to most things. He's an accomplished cook, mountaineer, guitarist, water skier and biker! He had his head in the clouds quite literally when he made the world's highest television live link into the BBC’s ‘Pebble Mill at One’ programme from 18,000 feet up.
He joined the British Makalu Expedition in Nepal to report on the efforts to climb the world's fifth highest mountain. He produced and presented - live by satellite - a series of features for Radio 1, Radio 4 and BBC1's ‘People Today.’ And the whole story was told in a half-hour documentary, which he co-produced and presented on BBC1.
His love of the outdoors was evident on ‘The great Outdoors’ for Channel 4. He has also hosted two series of the leisure show ‘Time Off’ for Meridian. Water sports - and Russell's efforts at them - were featured in a sixteen-week series of ‘Wet and Wild’ for The Travel Channel.
Ever versatile, he's also presented plenty of home improvement programmes, including: ‘These Four Walls’ for the Discovery Home and Leisure channel; ‘This Old House’ for Granada; ‘Room for Improvement’ for the BBC and two series of ‘The DIY Show’ for the BBC. On a cultural front, Russell has presented the series, ‘Art and Antiques’ for BBC2.
Travel is Russell's lifelong passion. He conceived, produced and presented four series of the unique travel series ‘The Diceman’ for the Discovery Channel, a show that has now been seen in over 60 countries around the world - the website at www.diceman.co.uk is testimony to its popularity.
He is also an award winning radio presenter and producer having won two prestigious Sony Radio Awards. Although he cut his teeth in local radio (everything from the Breakfast Show to a Late Night Phone-in), he has presented a number of programmes for the BBC Networks, including Radio One, Radio Four and Five-Live.
Russell is regularly requested to host seminars and speak about his property experiences, was the face of Ford's Business Television and has presented corporate videos for companies including: Microsoft; Ford; Timpsons; Halfords; Jewson; Scotsman Newspapers and the MI Group.
Russell's key passions, apart from his family, include: Travel, Architecture, food and drink, football, the Great Outdoors and any mode of transport that goes fast!
